After 26 years at the same site in West Covina, our main clinic was in very poor physical condition. An 8,500 square foot, flat-roof structure, the space had always been a challenge for use as a medical clinic. Along with the design inefficiencies, the building’s infrastructure had aged to a point where major building systems were in need of constant repair, and many had to be replaced. Increased demand for East Valley’s services had already put a strain on the facility, resulting in long patient wait times and reduced provider productivity. We could see this strain worsen as patient volumes increased.

To more efficiently and effectively meet the increased need for services, East Valley launched its three-phase capital campaign, Building for the Future, in September of 2003 to raise the funds necessary to build a brand new, state of the art facility to replace the old site. The new facility will be 25,000 square feet (three times the size of the old building), expand the number of exam rooms from 10 to 19, incrementally provide 50% more medical visits, allow for two additional dental operatories, include larger areas for mental health services and health education, and allow for the creation of new vision services. Now entering its final phase, this $8.5 million total project has a fundraising goal of $6.5 million.

Foundation Gifts

The S. Mark Taper Foundation’s Lead Gift
East Valley was honored to be recipient of a lead gift to the capital campaign from the S. Mark Taper Foundation. The Foundation’s gift of $850,000 was instrumental in assuring a vibrant start to the campaign, and because of the S. Mark Taper Foundation’s influential reputation and the magnitude of its largess, East Valley has been successful in garnering other private foundation contributions to the campaign, including:

The Ahmanson Foundation
Weingart Foundation
Kaiser Permanente Foundation
W.M. Keck Foundation
The Tides Foundation Community Clinic Initiative
(a joint project of Tides and The California Endowment)
Rose Hills Foundation
California Community Foundation
Blue Shield Foundation

We have also received very generous support from local businesses who understand how important East Valley is in keeping the local workforce healthy and on the job.

Why Should You Give?

Your gift to the capital campaign, to help keep our communities healthy, will be felt in our local school districts, as over 9,000 young children are immunized at East Valley every year so they can attend school. Your gift will be felt in our local businesses, as we are a key component in keeping the local workforce healthy and on the job. And your gift will be felt in our local hospital emergency rooms, as East Valley’s patients receive timely care and preventive health services at our clinic, keeping the local emergency rooms free for those in the community who truly need emergency care.

We need your help in building for the future…today!
