Yes on Proposition 35!

Updated 8.29.2024

Pomona, CA (August 2024) - Through our affiliation with the California Primary Care Association (CPCA), East Valley Community Health Center is a part of a coalition of health care advocates that is supporting Proposition 35. Proposition 35 is a measure on the November ballot that will expand Medi-Cal recipients access to care in the communities we serve. This measure will invest needed revenue into the health care system that will allow health centers like ours to increase primary and specialty care appointment availability for our patients.

Why Support Prop 35?

California’s health care system has been dealing with many challenges. Hospitals are closing. Emergency rooms are overcrowded. More than 40 hospitals have stopped offering labor and delivery services. These challenges are worsen because the state has redirected more than $20 billion in health care funding to non-health care purposes over the last 10 years.

Prop 35 dedicates funding for a wide variety of health care services without raising taxes, including:

  • Expanded preventative health care to alleviate the burden on ERs

  • Reduced wait times in emergency rooms and urgent care facilities

  • Primary care and physician offices support

  • Community health centers support

  • Enhanced specialty care like cancer, cardiology and OB/GYN services

  • Family planning services

  • Expanded mental health treatment

  • Hiring more first responders and paramedics to reduce emergency response times

  • Health care workforce training to address the worker shortage

  • Comprehensive services for Medi-Cal patients to broaden access to hospitals, physicians, women's health and community clinics, and health centers

1. Positive Impact: Prop 35 will address the challenges that the communities we serve are facing in accessing healthcare by securing dedicated resources to protect and expand patient access to care at community health centers. Prop 35 will also reduce emergency response times by funding first responders and paramedics.

2. Alignment with Our Values: This proposition aligns with our commitment to providing comprehensive, accessible, and affordable healthcare services to the communities we serve.

3. Community Benefit: By supporting Prop 35, we can help create more access to care for our patients, strengthen our workforce, improve the health and well-being of our community
